Three Charged Over Kew East Home Invasion

Three suspects have been charged, with two others still sought by police after the violent home invasion.

Overview

  • A 24-year-old Caroline Springs man and two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, have been remanded in custody on charges including aggravated home invasion, causing serious injury, false imprisonment and theft.
  • Victoria Police continue forensic inquiries and have appealed for CCTV, dashcam footage and witness information through Crime Stoppers as at least two alleged offenders remain at large.
  • At around 4 am on Sunday, five intruders forced entry to a home on Oxford Street in Kew East by smashing a window, separated the couple, demanded access to a safe and stole the family’s BMW, which was later found dumped in Deer Park.
  • The 39-year-old husband was stabbed 11 times with a machete, suffering a fractured arm and eye trauma that requires surgery, but his injuries are non-life-threatening.
  • Two children, aged two and three, were asleep during the attack and emerged uninjured, while the 34-year-old mother and the husband’s 69- and 70-year-old parents sustained minor injuries and have been released from hospital.
