Three Charged After Stolen SUV With Shotgun Crashes in Western Sydney

Police are investigating possible links to so-called kill cars used in organised-crime shootings.

Overview

  • Officers say a black Mercedes-Benz SUV with four balaclava-clad occupants fled in Greystanes about 5:25pm and reached up to 80 km/h on 50 km/h streets before hitting a parked car in Merrylands West.
  • Three men aged 19, 20 and 22 were arrested after two foot chases and a dog and helicopter search, while a fourth occupant remains at large.
  • Police report finding a loaded shotgun under the driver’s seat and two petrol-filled jerrycans in the vehicle.
  • The SUV is alleged to have been stolen from Balwyn in Melbourne, highlighting an interstate element to the investigation.
  • The trio have been charged with weapons, stolen-vehicle and pursuit offences, refused bail, and are due in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday.
