Three Charged After Officer Shot During Kingsway Arrest in Gloucester

Three people now face charges, with the case under independent oversight.

  • Police say a taxi driver was allegedly held at knifepoint on Valley Gardens around 4.20pm on Wednesday before armed officers later detained a suspect on Silverstone Walk.
  • During the arrest a police firearm discharged, shooting an officer in the leg; he remains in hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
  • All three defendants remain in custody and are due at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court today, as Gloucestershire Police maintain a cordon, continue enquiries, and the IOPC oversees the incident.
