Three Booked in Alleged ₹1.75 Crore Matrimonial Fraud in Bengaluru

Kengeri police are investigating the roles of three suspects in a reported ₹1.75 crore matchmaking scam.

  • Police named Vijay Raj Gowda, his father Boregowda, and a woman identified as Soumya, whom investigators believe is Vijay’s wife.
  • The 29-year-old complainant says she met Vijay on a matrimonial site in March 2024 and was told he was a wealthy businessman claiming ₹715 crore in assets.
  • According to the complaint, Vijay introduced Soumya as his sister during a meeting near Kengeri and invoked ED-related cases and frozen accounts to solicit money.
  • Investigators say about ₹1.75 crore was collected in instalments from the woman and her network after she was urged to take loans, with only ₹22 lakh returned before alleged threats.
  • The FIR filed in Whitefield was transferred to Kengeri Police Station, where police are examining each accused’s role, and the allegations remain under investigation.
