Overview
- The twin-engine Beechcraft 95-B55 Baron departed San Carlos Airport around 10 p.m. on July 26 and crashed approximately 200–300 yards off Point Pinos Lighthouse en route to Monterey Regional Airport.
- U.S. Coast Guard Station Monterey deployed a 29-foot response boat and MH-65 Dolphin helicopters alongside CAL FIRE boats, local police and Monterey county crews for the overnight search.
- Crews recovered three unresponsive occupants between 3:01 a.m. and 9:08 a.m. on July 27 and identified them as Steven Eugene Clatterbuck, James Vincent and Jamie Lee Tabscott.
- The FAA issued an Alert Notice (ALNOT) for the missing Beechcraft and both the FAA and NTSB have opened formal investigations into the cause of the crash.
- Debris including a wheel and fuselage fragments washed ashore near Asilomar State Beach and is being secured for forensic examination
