Three Arrested in Ranchi in Kukatpally Home-Invasion Murder

CCTV analysis, call records, plus a cab driver’s tip led police to Jharkhand to secure the arrests.

Overview

  • Cyberabad police detained Harsh Kumar, Roshan Singh and Raju Varma in Ranchi after the September 10 killing of 50-year-old Renuka Agarwal at Swan Lake Apartments in Kukatpally.
  • Investigators say the victim was tied up, bludgeoned with a pressure cooker and had her throat slit before the assailants looted valuables, bathed in the flat and fled on a two-wheeler later abandoned at Hafeezpet MMTS station.
  • Officers formed multiple teams, traced movements via CCTV through Moosapet, IDL Lake Road and Kaithlapur, and followed technical leads that included call-detail records and a long-distance cab journey to Ranchi.
  • Police report confessions and the recovery of stolen property, including gold, 16 watches, two mobile phones and the house key, alongside forensic findings of more than 40 injuries from the post-mortem.
  • Harsh had been hired as house help about 10–11 days earlier through a manpower agency, Roshan also worked in the building and has prior cases in Ranchi, and the trio are being produced for transit warrants to bring them to Hyderabad.
