Three Arrested in Public Assault of Woman in Patiala’s Jansua Village

The victim, tied to an electric pole and beaten for hours, remains hospitalized as authorities intensify efforts to apprehend additional suspects.

The assault occurred on April 4, 2025, in Jansua village, Patiala, after a family accused the victim’s son of eloping with their daughter-in-law.
The victim was tied to an electric pole, beaten for nearly four hours, and videographed to publicly shame her, according to her statement.
Patiala Police have arrested three individuals, including Kuldeep and Bittu, and are conducting raids to locate over a dozen other suspects charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The Punjab State Women Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of the case and directed the Patiala SSP to submit an action-taken report by April 7, 2025.
The victim, hospitalized with multiple injuries, has denied knowledge of her son’s whereabouts and called for strict action against all involved.
