Three individuals, including Caleb McCray, Kyle Thurman, and Isaiah Smith, have been arrested and face charges ranging from criminal hazing to manslaughter.
The hazing ritual involved pledges being struck with boxing gloves, during which Wilson collapsed, appeared to have a seizure, and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Authorities say fraternity members misled hospital staff by claiming Wilson collapsed while playing basketball; no 911 call was made from the hazing site.
Southern University has suspended all fraternity and sorority recruitment activities for the academic year and launched an internal investigation into the incident.
