Overview

• The blaze erupted at about 1:30 p.m. in a three-story, non-fireproof multiple dwelling at 922 Lafayette Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
• Deputy Assistant Chief Joseph Duggan said crews faced heavy fire conditions on all floors and resorted to defensive operations because of debris and clutter.
• Roughly 150 firefighters, EMTs and officers battled the fire over several hours.
• Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
• FDNY Fire Marshals have opened an investigation to determine the blaze’s cause.
