  • A blaze ignited around 1:30 p.m. on June 4 at a cluttered, reportedly squatter-occupied three-story building at 922 Lafayette Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
  • Flames spread to adjoining structures at 920 and 924 Lafayette Avenue before firefighters brought the blaze under control by 4:45 p.m.
  • Approximately 150 FDNY firefighters, EMTs and officers battled heavy fire conditions and dense smoke throughout the afternoon.
  • Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
  • FDNY Fire Marshals have launched an investigation into the cause as displaced residents contend with street closures on Lewis and Lafayette avenues.
