Threat Emails Target Mumbai ISKCON Temple and Worli Hotel, No Explosives Found

Police opened a cyber probe after emails referenced RDX blasts alongside a Tamil Nadu Police union demand.

  • An email sent to the ISKCON temple in Mumbai’s Girgaon on Friday prompted a full sweep by police and the bomb squad, which found nothing suspicious.
  • Gamdevi police took over the temple case and began investigating the source and motive of the message.
  • A separate email to a premium Worli hotel on Thursday claimed three VIP rooms were on target, according to police.
  • The hotel email warned of seven RDX IED blasts at the Ritz-Carlton in Singapore as well as in three rooms at the Mumbai property, police said.
  • The Worli hotel alerted the Mumbai Police Control Room and multiple teams, including cyber police, fire services, bomb disposal and dog squads, responded and opened a probe.
