Overview
- The 32nd edition stepped off at 10:30 a.m., taking flocks from Casa de Campo to Plaza de Cibeles via landmarks including Calle Mayor and Puerta del Sol.
- More than 1,100 Merino sheep and about 200 goats crossed the city with transhumant shepherds and cultural groups from rural regions.
- The parade concluded with the traditional payment of maravedíes outside the Madrid City Hall, a gesture that recalls the 1418 Concordia.
- Rolling traffic restrictions affected stretches such as Puente del Rey, Paseo de la Virgen del Puerto, Calle Alcalá and Plaza de Cibeles, with City Hall urging public transport as EMT routes were adjusted.
- Organized by Asociación Trashumancia y Naturaleza with support from the Ayuntamiento and conservation groups, the festival returned after last year’s bluetongue-related suspension.
