Overview
- An open procession carried Hatton from Hyde to Manchester Cathedral before continuing to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium after a private, invitation-only service at noon.
- Stops along the route included the Cheshire Cheese pub, Harehill Tavern, The New Inn for a dove release, Hatton’s Gym, Hyde Town Hall, Betta Bodies Gym and the AO Arena.
- Boxing greats and public figures—among them Tyson Fury, Amir Khan, Frank Bruno, Wayne Rooney and Liam Gallagher—joined thousands of mourners, with a Reliant Robin from Only Fools and Horses leading the cortege.
- Hatton’s children delivered eulogies at the service, with daughter Millie asking, “Why didn’t you reach out?”, reflecting his long-documented struggles with mental health.
- The family has said he seemed in a good place and was preparing for a December exhibition in Dubai; tributes, condolence books, a statue petition and plans for a mental health charity in his name are being reported.
