Overview
- Thousands of fans gathered along Broad Street on July 30 for a celebratory cortege led by a local fanfare and chants of “Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy, oi oi oi.”
- The procession culminated at the Black Sabbath Bridge where Sharon Osbourne with Kelly, Aimee and Jack laid flowers and read fan tributes in tears.
- Supporters left flowers, letters, stuffed toys and album covers along the route as personal tokens of homage to Birmingham’s native heavy metal pioneer.
- A private funeral service is scheduled for July 31 at a Gerrards Cross church, to be attended by family, Black Sabbath founders and music stars including Elton John, James Hetfield and Yungblud.
- Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and other local institutions have extended hours for memorial exhibitions and opened condolence books for continued public tribute.
