Thousands Honor Fallen Minneapolis Officer Jamal Mitchell

Mitchell was killed on May 30 while trying to assist a man who then shot him; the incident also resulted in three other deaths.
A procession followed the service, escorting Mitchell's body to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for transport to his native Connecticut.
Mitchell's partner and four children expressed deep grief and gratitude for the community's support.
The officer was previously commended for his bravery in rescuing an elderly couple from a house fire on his third day on the job.
