Overview
- The Vancouver Whitecaps announced on Sept. 29 that Thomas Müller has signed a contract extension that keeps him in Vancouver through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season and lists him as a Designated Player.
- Müller said in a club video that he feels physically good, is enjoying his time with the Whitecaps and is not ready to retire.
- Since joining from Bayern Munich in August 2025, Müller has 31 goal contributions in 45 appearances and helped Vancouver reach its first MLS Cup final and win the Canadian Championship.
- The club also extended its BC Place lease through the sprint season and opened 2027 ticket sales, with CEO Axel Schuster saying the short-term lease enables sales while longer-term stadium and ownership arrangements are still being negotiated.
- The 2027 Sprint Season will run as a 14-match bridge from February to May to move MLS to a summer-to-spring calendar, which shapes short-term roster and contract planning and will determine qualification for some continental competitions.
