Thomas Jennings Jailed for Four Years for Ring-Captured Street Assault on Girlfriend

The court pointed to an escalation in violence by a repeat offender with dozens of prior convictions.

Overview

  • Recorder Mark Bradshaw sentenced Jennings to four years in prison with a three-year extended licence after a guilty plea to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
  • Doorbell footage showed him repeatedly striking Paula Richardson, dragging her to the ground and kicking her head during the March 31 attack on Harbreck Grove in Aintree.
  • Court evidence said he used a mobile phone as a weapon before the kicks, and the judge described the broad-daylight assault as a cowardly attack.
  • Richardson suffered a fractured jaw and right eye socket, underwent surgery and continues to experience vision problems.
  • The judge noted the offence was committed while Jennings was on licence, that he threatened a witness and that he has 36 convictions for 64 offences including drugs and firearms.
