Thomas Boswell Wins BBWAA Career Excellence Award for Baseball Writing

The longtime Washington Post columnist will be honored at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown next summer for his 52-year career and contributions to the sport.

Thomas Boswell, a Washington Post columnist for over five decades, has been awarded the BBWAA Career Excellence Award for his impact on baseball journalism.
The honor recognizes Boswell’s deep storytelling, analytical insights, and literary contributions to the understanding and enjoyment of baseball.
Boswell covered 44 consecutive World Series from 1975 to 2019 and played a significant role in chronicling the return of Major League Baseball to Washington, D.C., in 2005.
He will be celebrated during the Baseball Hall of Fame’s induction weekend in Cooperstown, New York, from July 25–28, 2025.
Boswell’s innovative contributions include the development of the Total Average statistic and several acclaimed books on baseball and its cultural significance.
