Overview

• Thirty students at the Girls Tribal Ashram School in Kallur reported vomiting, nausea, abdominal bloating and severe pain after eating khichdi for breakfast and were first treated at the Community Health Centre by Dr Navya Kant and Dr Ramesh.
• Ten girls in serious condition were transferred to the Government General Hospital in Khammam where sub-collector Ajay Yadav oversaw their treatment.
• Sathupalli MLA Matta Ragamayee inspected the school kitchen and urged senior officials to take strict action against those responsible for the outbreak.
• Authorities have collected samples of the khichdi served and sent them for laboratory testing to determine the cause of the suspected contamination.
• Telangana Girijana Sangham has called the incident gross negligence and demanded a high-level government inquiry into recurring food-safety lapses at ashram schools.
