Third Suspect Charged in 1990 Murder of Carole Soltysiak

After decades of stalled investigation, new evidence leads to the indictment of a 62-year-old man in the 'Disparues de l'A6' case.

Carole Soltysiak, 13, was found murdered in 1990 near Montceau-les-Mines, part of a series of unsolved cases known as the 'Disparues de l'A6'.
The suspect, now 62, was recently arrested and charged with her murder and rape, following a reopening of the investigation in March 2023.
Two other men were previously implicated in the crime but were never tried; one remains intermittently hospitalized for psychiatric reasons.
DNA evidence from the crime scene was previously compared to known serial killers but yielded no matches.
The case is part of a larger pattern of unsolved murders in the Saône-et-Loire region during the 1980s and 1990s, which has prompted family advocacy and legal action.
