Third-Generation Nissan LEAF Named WWCOTY Best Compact Car

Recognition from an international women’s jury underscores Nissan’s push for more accessible everyday electric driving.

Overview

  • The award was announced on January 13 in Yokohama by WWCOTY, judged by 84 female automotive journalists from 54 countries and recognized as the only international car prize decided exclusively by women.
  • Built on the CMF‑EV platform, the new LEAF adopts a more aerodynamic, crossover-like design with MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension for improved comfort and control.
  • The electric motor is rated at 160 kW with 355 Nm of torque and delivers a 0–100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds, according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Two battery options—52 kWh and 75 kWh—are offered, with the larger pack providing a manufacturer-claimed range of up to 622 km on a single charge.
  • Charging is optimized by an intelligent thermal management system that works with Google Maps Route Planner to precondition the battery, while tech features include Google built-in infotainment and ADAS such as ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link and a 3D Around View Monitor with a transparent-hood wheel view.
