Overview

  • A dummy operative from Delhi Police’s Special Cell scaled the perimeter wall near Nishad Raj Road on August 10 and carried imitation explosives into the children’s enclosure, where he paused to take selfies and record video
  • It was the third lapse in daily subversion and infiltration drills conducted since early August to test readiness for the August 15 Independence Day ceremony
  • Delhi Police has initiated corrective measures and protocol reviews but has not suspended additional personnel since seven officers were disciplined on August 5 for a missed dummy bomb
  • At least 15 drills involving Special Branch, local vigilance teams and the Special Cell have been completed, with most dummy suspects intercepted under enhanced screening
  • Recent upgrades include 700 AI-enabled CCTV cameras with facial recognition, a two-layered security ring of SWAT commandos and drone patrols around the fort perimeter
