The Wanted’s Max George Undergoes Emergency Pacemaker Surgery After Severe Heart Issues

The 36-year-old singer detailed his life-threatening health scare, including writing a will and fearing he wouldn’t survive.

Max George of The Wanted revealed he was hospitalized in December 2024 after experiencing severe heart irregularities, including a dangerously low heart rate of 26 beats per minute.
George recounted waking up with blue hands and gray arms, prompting his mother to seek urgent medical attention, which ultimately saved his life.
Doctors diagnosed him with a 2:1 heart block, where the signal between the heart chambers was disrupted, and determined he needed a pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat.
During his hospitalization, George feared for his life, writing a will on his phone and describing the experience as emotionally and physically overwhelming.
Following a successful surgery, George called the pacemaker “the best Christmas present” and is now recovering, though additional tests are being conducted on potential lung issues.
