The reboot, titled The Return of The Rocketeer, will reportedly focus on a retired Tuskegee airman who takes up the Rocketeer mantle.
Eugene Ashe, known for his work on Sylvie's Love and Homecoming, is currently writing the script for the reboot.
Oyelowo, who is also producing the film, has stated that the reboot will be 'more grounded' than the original 1991 film.
