'The Night of the Hunter' Remake Announced by 'Sinister' Duo

Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, known for 'Sinister' and 'The Black Phone,' are set to remake the '50s classic thriller 'The Night of the Hunter.'
The project is being developed at Universal, with Derrickson directing and co-writing the script with Cargill.
The remake is based on the 1953 novel by Davis Grubb, featuring a murderous ex-con disguised as a preacher.
Before starting on 'The Night of the Hunter,' Derrickson and Cargill will complete 'The Black Phone 2,' set for a June 27, 2025 release.
The original 'The Night of the Hunter' film is celebrated as a film noir classic and was added to the United States National Film Registry in 1992.
