Actors Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White underwent significant physical transformations for their roles as Kevin and Kerry Von Erich. Efron was motivated by the real Kevin Von Erich’s unique physicality in wrestling, while White gained 40lb of muscle.
Efron's transformation involved dietary changes and an extensive workout routine to portray Kevin Von Erich. Similar demands were placed on Jeremy Allen White, who had to bulk up and forego his preferred cardiovascular workouts for weightlifting.
Despite the physical demands, both Efron and White reported gaining confidence during the filming process, adapting to their dramatic physical changes and retro wrestling outfits.
The film received significant applause at its premiere in Dallas, with particular recognition for the performances by Efron and White. The film is set to be released in theaters on December 22, 2023.
