Warner Bros. has announced that a sequel to the 1985 adventure-comedy 'The Goonies' is officially in development, nearly 40 years after the original film's release.
Steven Spielberg, Chris Columbus, and Lauren Shuler Donner will produce the sequel, with Potsy Ponciroli confirmed as the screenwriter, though no director has been attached yet.
Plot details remain undisclosed, and it is unclear which, if any, original cast members, including Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Ke Huy Quan, will reprise their roles.
