• Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus in The Chosen, met Pope Leo XIV at a June 25 general audience and posed for a selfie that the pontiff shared on his official Instagram account.
• The meeting came just days after the Vatican’s Filmoteca theater screened Season 5 of the series on June 23 in a private event attended by Roumie, co-stars and creator Dallas Jenkins.
• Roumie and his castmates had traveled from Matera, Italy, where they completed three weeks of filming the crucifixion scenes for Season 6.
• Season 6, which focuses on Jesus’ final 24 hours, is in production and its feature-film finale is slated for exclusive theatrical release on March 12, 2027.
• The Chosen has drawn nearly 300 million viewers since its 2017 debut and will roll out Season 5 internationally on Prime Video starting July 13.
