The Boneyard and Oldengate Bridge Demolished as Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand Makeover Accelerates

The rapid teardown clears space for Disney’s Tropical Americas project as the rest of the land continues operating until early 2026.

Overview

  • New photos shared on September 17 show The Boneyard reduced to rubble with only the berm remaining, where an “artisan-crafted” animal carousel is planned for Pueblo Esperanza’s 2027 debut, according to park reports.
  • The Oldengate Bridge and its replica Brachiosaurus skeleton have been removed, creating clear sightlines through the former play area.
  • Disney is phasing closures of DinoLand U.S.A., with TriceraTop Spin and the Dino-Rama area already gone and The Boneyard closed permanently on September 1, 2025.
  • Remaining locations, including DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and Trilo-Bites, will operate through February 1, 2026 before closing to make way for full construction.
  • Disney has announced the replacement land will feature two Encanto attractions and an Indiana Jones retheme of the DINOSAUR ride, with opening targeted for 2027.
