Thane Police Arrest Fugitive Gangster After 18 Months On The Run

Police cite a tip-off for the Ulhasnagar operation, with the suspect linked to roughly 20 cases.

  • The Hill Line police in Ulhasnagar apprehended Akshay Suresh Gaikwad, alias Babu, on Saturday after officers surrounded him based on intelligence.

  • Officers said the accused was overpowered and handcuffed at the scene, and he is now in custody as further proceedings move ahead.
  • In a separate case, police said 56-year-old Siraj Naik surrendered after allegedly killing his wife in Malvani, and he has been booked for murder as the probe continues.
  • Police also reported progress in two other investigations: an arrest in the November 3 death of a 75-year-old woman in Dhage Pimpalgaon and the custody of a Bhayander jeweller’s wife and son in a suspected property-related killing.
