Thane Orders Repairs on Ghodbunder Road With Dec. 10 Deadline After Multi-Agency Review

Officials framed longer-term relief around the March 2026 Delhi–Mumbai Freight Corridor.

Overview

  • MP Naresh Mhaske chaired a Friday review with TMC chief Saurabh Rao, MMRDA, PWD, RTO officials and representatives of the Justice for Ghodbunder Road group.
  • Mhaske directed immediate works with the flyover prioritized and set a target to finish repairs by December 10.
  • He pressed for construction of the Khaniwade–Amne missing link to further reduce pressure on the corridor.
  • Rao said the municipal corporation will take over maintenance once the agencies now in charge bring the road up to standard.
  • The freight corridor slated for March 2026 is expected to divert a substantial share of JNPT container traffic, with estimates around 30–35 percent.
