- Maharashtra’s Thane and Nashik Zilla Parishads, which run rural schools, clinics and roads, presented their 2026–27 budgets Wednesday with tight funding plans.
- Thane set revenue at ₹116.99 crore against ₹116.93 crore in spending for a ₹5.84 lakh surplus under a Five-Pillar plan for development, social empowerment, water security, quality services and digital governance.

- Nashik revised its 2025–26 outlay to ₹75.98 crore after a ₹15 crore stamp duty recovery and proposed 2026–27 schemes for school excellence drives, Super 25 sports and Super 100 residential training, bicycles and hostels for backward-class students and support for transgender people.
