Thane Man Bites Off Friend’s Ear During Party Argument

A disagreement at a party escalated when a man bit off and swallowed part of his friend's ear, leading to police action in Thane, India.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning in the posh Hiranandani Estate in Patlipada, Thane West.
The victim, Shravan Leekha, a 37-year-old film producer, and the accused, Vikas Menon, a 32-year-old IT professional, were friends and residents of the same housing complex.
During an argument at a party in the Solitaire Cooperative Housing Society, Menon bit off a portion of Leekha’s ear in a fit of rage and swallowed it.
Leekha sought medical attention for his injury and reported the incident to the Kasarvadavli police, who have booked Menon under charges of voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
Leekha is expected to undergo two reconstructive surgeries costing ₹4-5 lakh to repair his ear.
