Thane Man Accused of Rape, Forced Marriage, and Torture in Disturbing Case
A 38-year-old man from Maharashtra allegedly raped a woman he met on Facebook, forced her into marriage, and subjected her to severe physical abuse, police revealed.
- The accused reportedly befriended the 27-year-old victim on Facebook in 2021, later blackmailing her with explicit videos to coerce her into a relationship and marriage.
- The victim was forced to move to Gwalior with the accused and his mother, where she was held captive and subjected to physical abuse, including being burned with a hot tawa and cigarette butts.
- The accused and his family allegedly cut the victim's hair and eyebrows, confiscated her identification documents, and used them to take out loans in her name.
- The victim filed a police complaint on Sunday, leading to the registration of an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including repeated rape, extortion, and criminal intimidation.
- Separately, a Thane court sentenced a 56-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly raping his 8-year-old niece during the 2020 lockdown, citing the grave nature of the crime.
