Thane Launches Gaimukh Ghat Roadworks with Heavy Vehicle Restrictions Starting August 8

Collector Panchal’s 15-day plan tasks a joint municipal–police–PWD team with asphalting Gaimukh Ghat following urgent inspections

Overview

  • Asphalting and geometric upgrades at Gaimukh Ghat are set to begin at 12:01 a.m. on August 8 and continue until 5 a.m. on August 11 under Panchal’s 15-day repair directive.
  • Heavy vehicles will be banned on the Ghat stretch from August 8 through August 10 to allow uninterrupted repair operations.
  • Detailed traffic advisories reroute trucks via Shirsat Phata–Parol–Akoli, Chinchoti–Kaman–Anjurphata and Kapurbawdi–Kasheli paths to ease flow in Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar.
  • Emergency and essential service vehicles—including police, fire brigade, ambulances, green corridor and oxygen tankers—are exempt from the restrictions to maintain critical response.
  • A joint coordination team drawn from Mira-Bhayandar and Thane municipal corporations, the Public Works Department and Traffic Police will oversee work progress and manage traffic.
