Thane Hashish Seizure, Navi Mumbai MD Arrests Mark Latest Moves in Maharashtra Drug Probe

  • Thane’s anti-narcotics squad arrested Masud Badbuddin Ainarkar with more than 1 kg of hashish worth Rs 1.1 crore on the Shilphata–Mumbra Road on September 14, with police custody ordered until September 23.
  • Police said a preliminary probe suggests the hashish may have been smuggled from abroad, and questioning is underway to identify the source and distribution network.
  • Koparkhairane police detained Nikhil Rajkumar Vagase and Masud Abdul Salam Khan near Ghansoli railway station late Thursday, seizing 182.12 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 72 lakh and a Kia Sonet car valued at Rs 13.5 lakh.
  • In an earlier September operation, Thane crime branch officers seized 501.5 grams of mephedrone at Kharigaon toll naka, arrested Sureshsingh Gangasingh Tanwar, and then picked up Kuldeepsingh Parihar on September 12 while searching for Abhishek Jaiswal.
  • MBVV Crime Branch Unit 11 in Vasai arrested three men with 250 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 50 lakh, and the ANC separately held Kaynat Jabbar Shaikh-Qureshi in a case where Mumbai Police had invoked MCOCA.
