Thames Valley Police Deploy Emergency Powers After Disorder in Banbury and Bletchley

Police say 20 stop-and-searches found no weapons after the fair disorder, with two Banbury suspects now charged.

  • Thames Valley Police said they stopped and searched 20 people in Banbury under a Section 60 order and found no weapons.
  • Two 19-year-olds, Moheez Hussain and Ammar Hussain, have been charged with weapon-related offences and remain in custody to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 20 October.
  • Following Friday’s incidents at the Michaelmas Fair, officers issued eight Section 35 dispersal orders in Banbury and increased visible patrols.
  • In Bletchley, a Section 60 stop-and-search and a Section 34 dispersal order were enacted on 17 October for 12 hours covering the area bounded by H8 Standing Way, V4 Watling Street, V7 Saxon Street and Buckingham Road.
  • A 17-year-old and a 15-year-old from Milton Keynes were arrested in connection with the Bletchley affray and remained in custody, according to police.
