Overview

• Factory Acceptance Tests finished for the mission system at the end of April 2025 and for the combat system at the end of June 2025.
• Land-based trials at the Shore Integration Facility are next, followed by shipboard installation on HMS Venturer at Babcock’s Rosyth yard.
• The combat suite centres on the latest TACTICOS combat management software, validated to control sensors, compile the tactical picture, support decisions, and manage weapons.
• HMS Venturer entered the water this summer as the multi-ship build progresses, with three vessels reported in production.
• Type 31 frigates, based on Babcock’s Arrowhead 140 design, are intended to replace some Type 23s, with initial service entry targeted from 2028.
