Thailand Files Criminal Complaint Against Bitget Operator and Seeks December 5 Block

The SEC says Bitget ran unlicensed, Thai-targeted trading from 2022 to 2025, warning customers to secure assets before access is cut.

Overview

  • Thailand’s SEC lodged a criminal complaint against BG Limited on Nov. 5 and referred the case to the Economic Crime Suppression Division while asking the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block Bitget from Dec. 5.
  • The regulator says its probe found Bitget facilitated trading and charged fees for Thai users between 2022 and 2025 and pointed to Thai-language pages, baht pricing and local social-media promotion as evidence.
  • The complaint names a local promoter, Kritsana Kritsananuwat, accused of publicizing Bitget on a Facebook page and a YouTube channel and is part of the broader investigation that could lead to prosecution.
  • Authorities have told Thai customers to review and secure holdings before the Dec. 5 restriction and warned that assets on unlicensed platforms are not protected under Thai digital-asset laws.
  • Bitget’s separate plan to buy a licensed Thai exchange remains subject to regulator approval and does not affect the current enforcement action or the ongoing criminal investigation.
