Overview
- Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission filed a criminal complaint on Thursday, Nov. 5, naming BG Limited, the operator of Bitget, for allegedly running digital-asset trading services in the country without a required license.
- The SEC asked the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to Bitget’s website, related domains and mobile app starting Dec. 5, 2026, and warned users to review and secure holdings before that date.
- Regulators say their probe found Bitget facilitated trades, collected fees and used Thai-language promotions between 2022 and 2025, actions the SEC says meet Thailand’s legal definition of operating a digital asset exchange without authorization.
- The complaint also names promoter Kritsana Kritsananuwat for alleged promotional activity on Facebook and YouTube, and the filing was sent to the Economic Crime Suppression Division for investigation before prosecutors decide on charges.
- Bitget’s announced plan to buy a licensed Thai operator (GMO‑Z.com Cryptonomics / Z.com EX) remains a separate, approval-dependent process and does not alter the current enforcement steps rooted in Thailand’s 2018 Emergency Decree and 2025 blocking rules.
