Thailand and China Ink Visa-Free Travel Deal
The agreement, effective from March 1, aims to boost tourism and strengthen ties between the two nations.
- Thailand and China have signed a mutual visa exemption agreement, allowing citizens of both countries to travel visa-free from March 1.
- The visa-free deal allows stays of up to 30 days per visit, with a total stay not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period.
- The agreement is expected to boost tourism in both countries, particularly in Thailand, which has seen a significant drop in Chinese tourists due to the pandemic.
- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Thai counterpart Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara ratified the agreement during Wang's four-day trip to Thailand.
- During his visit, Wang also held talks with U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan on sensitive issues including Taiwan and Iran.
