The delivery marks the last milestone in the carrier’s CAAT air operator certificate application for ACMI-focused operations.

Overview

  • An Airbus A320-200 arrived at Don Mueang on August 22, 2025, as Thai SmartLynx’s first aircraft, registered HS-SXA (msn 5089).
  • The arrival coincided with the opening of a new operations office at Don Mueang to support the Thailand base.
  • The 13.4-year-old, IAE V2500-powered jet is an ex-SilkAir airframe acquired from TrueAero in 2024 after storage in Denpasar since November 2024 and post-delivery maintenance.
  • The airline plans ACMI and charter services once CAAT approves its AOC, and it has not disclosed initial deployment for the aircraft.
  • Parent Avia Solutions Group is broadening its Southeast Asia ACMI footprint with affiliates in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, while Thai SmartLynx targets flexible capacity to support tourism demand.
