Thai SmartLynx Takes First A320 as It Builds Thailand ACMI Base

The delivery marks the last milestone in the carrier’s CAAT air operator certificate application for ACMI-focused operations.

Overview

An Airbus A320-200 arrived at Don Mueang on August 22, 2025, as Thai SmartLynx’s first aircraft, registered HS-SXA (msn 5089).
The arrival coincided with the opening of a new operations office at Don Mueang to support the Thailand base.
The 13.4-year-old, IAE V2500-powered jet is an ex-SilkAir airframe acquired from TrueAero in 2024 after storage in Denpasar since November 2024 and post-delivery maintenance.
The airline plans ACMI and charter services once CAAT approves its AOC, and it has not disclosed initial deployment for the aircraft.
Parent Avia Solutions Group is broadening its Southeast Asia ACMI footprint with affiliates in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, while Thai SmartLynx targets flexible capacity to support tourism demand.
