Overview
- Chaiphum Sae-eung, 63, was found dead inside his home in Yala province with numerous bite wounds after a reported attack by a male pig-tailed macaque.
- His nephew, Pipat Sae-eung, discovered the body on 6 December slumped against a wall in a pool of blood.
- Officers reported the victim was still clutching a metal rod used in self-defense, and they saw the macaque perched in the rafters of the house.
- Police said there is no suspicion of human involvement, estimated the death occurred two to three days earlier, and sent the body to Betong Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
- Residents said the same macaque had acted aggressively in recent days, including biting the victim earlier and forcing a nearby family to flee, underscoring concerns about growing macaque conflicts in Thailand.
