Overview
- The Royal Thai Air Force said an AT-6TH light attack aircraft crashed during a training flight in Chiang Mai’s Jom Thong district at about 10:30am, killing both pilots.
- Rescuers were alerted at 10:48am and reached a remote hillside site near Ban Huay Fang to find the wreck fully ablaze.
- The crash left a roughly 10m-deep crater with debris scattered over about 20m in a forested area nearly one kilometre from the road.
- RTAF personnel have cordoned the area, with the pilots’ bodies still trapped in the wreckage pending recovery and a formal search.
- Photos indicate the aircraft was tail number 41105 from 411 Squadron in Chiang Mai, part of Thailand’s eight-aircraft AT-6TH Wolverine fleet commissioned in 2025, and the cause has not been announced.
