TGSRTC Raises Hyderabad City Bus Fares From Monday to Back Electric Rollout

The corporation says stage-based increases will help finance 2,800 electric buses by 2027.

Overview

  • Fares on all city services in Hyderabad and Secunderabad will increase from Monday, according to TGSRTC.
  • City Ordinary, Metro Express, E-Ordinary and E-Express services will cost Rs 5 more for the first three stages and Rs 10 more from the fourth stage onward.
  • Metro Deluxe and E-Metro AC services will add Rs 5 for the first stage and Rs 10 from the second stage onward.
  • BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao condemned the hike, saying it could add about Rs 500 a month per commuter and amounts to a 50% rise on the minimum fare.
  • He accused the government of penalising passengers to cover losses from free-travel schemes and claimed the move would extract nearly Rs 1 crore a day from Hyderabad residents, while TGSRTC plans to replace diesel buses within ORR limits.
