Overview
- TfL says London Underground services will be severely disrupted from 7–11 September with little to no service expected, and any trains that do run starting after 8am.
- The rolling action begins with a local Ruislip depot walkout from 6pm on 5 September, then targets control roles on 7 September, fleet, stations and trains on 8 and 10 September, and signallers and service control on 9 and 11 September.
- DLR services are expected to be shut on 9 and 11 September, while the Elizabeth line, London Overground and trams plan to operate but will be extremely busy and may not stop at some stations if they are closed.
- RMT cites pay, fatigue and extreme shift patterns as key issues, the strike follows a ballot with 6,004 votes in favour (about 57.6% of eligible members), and TfL has tabled a 3.4% pay offer while rejecting a shorter working week.
- Coldplay rescheduled Wembley shows from 7–8 September to 6 and 12 September due to safety and dispersal concerns, and a CEBR analysis estimates a direct £230m hit to London’s economy from the planned action.
