TfL Seizes 1,400 Vehicles Over Unpaid Ulez Fines in London

Transport for London has intensified enforcement efforts as part of the expanded ultra-low emission zone, recovering millions in unpaid fines.

Transport for London (TfL) seized 1,429 vehicles from drivers who ignored ultra-low emission zone (Ulez) fines over the past year.
Bailiffs have recouped £25.6 million from unpaid fines, with over 760 vehicles sold at auction to recover debts.
The Ulez was expanded to cover all London boroughs in August 2023, targeting vehicles not meeting emissions standards.
TfL is tripling its investigations team to enhance enforcement and address significant outstanding debt.
Despite high compliance rates, an anti-Ulez group has been urging non-payment and vandalism of enforcement cameras.
