TfL ties the courtesy push to wider mobile coverage, citing research that most surveyed riders are bothered by loud audio.

Overview

  • Posters are now live on the Elizabeth line and will appear on buses, the DLR, London Overground, the Underground, and trams from October.
  • The campaign asks passengers to use headphones when streaming content or making phone calls to reduce disruption for others.
  • TfL says a survey of 1,000 customers found 70% view loud music and phone conversations as a nuisance on the network.
  • The initiative follows the rollout of more 4G and 5G service across the system, which makes streaming and calls easier for riders.
  • The posters build on TfL’s #TravelKind effort, with support from deputy transport mayor Seb Dance, and include reminders to look up for passengers who may need a seat.
