Texas Tech's Morton Exits With Leg Injury as No. 9 Red Raiders Beat Kansas 42–17

It is his third in-game exit this season, with his status to be evaluated before the trip to Arizona State.

Overview

  • Behren Morton left in the second quarter after Kansas edge rusher Leroy Harris III landed on his lower right leg on a sack and he was later ruled out, returning to the sideline in street clothes.
  • Coach Joey McGuire said the issue appeared similar to Morton's season-opening hyperextension of his right knee, with further evaluation set for Sunday.
  • Redshirt freshman Will Hammond replaced Morton and ran for touchdowns of 20 and 10 yards to help close out the win.
  • Cameron Dickey rushed for 263 yards with touchdown runs of 71 and 55 yards as Texas Tech piled up 372 rushing yards to move to 6-0 and 3-0 in the Big 12.
  • Defensive tackle Skyler Gill-Howard was carted off with a lower left leg injury, received a walking boot after negative X-rays, and did not return as the defense recorded nine sacks.
