Dr. Heath Smith, a surgeon and school board vice president, and his two children, aged 6 and 8, were killed in a plane crash in Parker County, Texas.
The plane, a twin-engine Cessna 310, crashed into a pasture near Poolville around 1:15 p.m. local time on Sunday.
The plane had taken off from Dimmit County Airport and was scheduled to arrive at the Bridgeport Municipal Airport.
Smith was piloting the plane at the time of the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Board are investigating the crash.
